The International Cricket Council (ICC) on 24 February announced the full schedule of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. This tournament is considered an important milestone in the history of women’s cricket.

England is all set to host the World Cup, which will begin on June 12 and end through the final match on July 5. This year a total of 12 teams including European countries will be in the race for the title.

England will be the host country of Women’s T20 World Cup 2026

The preliminary stage of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 has been divided into two groups, each with 6 teams. Hosts England are sharing Group 1 with South Africa, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Netherlands. Whereas in Group 2 there are West Indies, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Scotland.

England will start its campaign on June 12. The inaugural match of the competition will be held between England and Sri Lanka at Edgbaston.

After a few days, the Indian women’s team will start their race for the title. India will be one of the favorites to win the trophy as they are the winners of the previous edition of the ODI World Cup. In their opening match they will face arch-rivals Pakistan on June 14 at Edgbaston.

“The release of the schedule for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is an important milestone in the preparations for the global, major sporting event,” ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said in an official press release.

He added, “The event is a continuation of the ICC’s ongoing investment in women’s cricket – through expanded participation and high performance pathways, event and production standards, tournament prize money, wider media distribution and commercial partnerships – with the aim of achieving higher levels of attention, engagement and stature with fans around the world”.
