Former RCB star Srivatsa Goswami has commented on Saransh Jain getting his first call-up for the India national cricket team for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, the first Test of which begins on August 15, 2026.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday morning announced a 15-member squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Saransh is getting his first chance for the Men in Blue team at the age of 33. He has finally been included in the team after consistently good performances in the Ranji Trophy over the last few years.

Virat Kohli’s former teammate Srivatsa Goswami has posted on Twitter (formerly Twitter) criticizing Saransh’s selection. He questioned the selectors and management for their late decision of selecting the off-spinning bowling all-rounder in the Men in Blue team. He believes that he can play Test cricket for a maximum of 3 to 4 years.
Furthermore, he also credited the BCCI and the Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for grooming new young spinners and developing batsmen for Test cricket as he believes that India will see some new young spinners to play with Manav Suthar in the future.

Srivatsa Goswami recalls his tweet about Saransh Jain
Earlier, in 2025, Goswami had tweeted about Saransh, who was performing well for Madhya Pradesh in the Duleep Trophy, and said about him that he bowls well and uses the crease well while bowling, his bowling has deceptive flight, and he also bowls well against right-handed batsmen.

Recently, Saransh Jain was part of the India A team that played two unofficial Test matches against Sri Lanka A in late June and early July. He batted well in the second game and scored 70* in the first innings.
Bowling, he took 7 wickets in two matches, while in one game he took 4/92. With recent experience of playing in Sri Lanka, he will have a good knowledge of the conditions and how the pitch will behave, which could be an advantage for the Men in Blue in the upcoming series.
