Former RCB batsman sent a blunt message to RR management regarding Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer has told Rajasthan Royals to never let go of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Jaffer’s comments come after Suryavanshi played an inning of 97 runs in 29 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2026 eliminator.

Suryavanshi is the current Orange Cap holder and has arguably been the best batsman of the tournament, at least by the proverbial mile. Suryavanshi’s exploits have now taken Rajasthan Royals into the second qualifier and the team is now just one win away from making it to their third IPL final.

“They Must Be Fools” – Wasim Jaffer

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Jaffer said that it would be foolish of the RR franchise to let Vaibhav Suryavanshi go in the IPL auction at any stage. Jaffer said that Sooryavanshi is the future of the franchise, even if he has gone through the regular ups and downs that any player goes through in his life.

He said, “They would be foolish if they let this guy go. There may be a season in the future where he doesn’t score runs. It happens to everyone. But he has shown in the trailer what the picture will be like going forward. This guy is the future of your franchise and you have to keep him.”

“He will rewrite all records” – Jafar

After this, Wasim Jaffer praised the 15-year-old player a lot in the rest of the conversation. Jaffer said that it is unbelievable that a child like Vaibhav Suryavanshi can do the work that most adults are struggling with. Jaffer said Suryavanshi can essentially rewrite the record books, even if he plays for just 10 more years.

“This kid is scaling new heights. We asked if he can score runs consistently and he is doing that. Breaking Gayle’s record of most sixes, this kid is doing unreal. I am amazed. To play such innings in the playoffs is unbelievable.”

Jaffer further added, “He deserves all the accolades. There is nothing left to say. SRH were the favourites, but his innings completely changed the game. Not many people have played 10 years in this league and could not do what this guy is achieving in his second season.”

He said, “He is just 15 years old. The scary thing is, what will he do even if he plays for the next ten years? I think he will rewrite all the records. Not many people at a good age can even handle this pressure, leave alone performing like this. This boy is batting like this against the top performers in the world and is dominating. He is one in a billion.”

Vaibhav Suryavanshi in IPL 2026

As mentioned earlier, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently the Orange Cap holder in IPL 2026. He has scored 680 runs in 15 matches.

Surprisingly, his runs have come at a whopping strike rate of 243. Of his 5 scores of fifty or more, 4 have come in less than 20 balls. His century also came in just 36 balls. During the Eliminator, he broke Chris Gayle’s record for most sixes hit by a player in a single season of IPL.
