Former Indian captain pointed out a big weakness in Sanju Samson’s batting against Zimbabwe.

Sanju Samson got out in similar fashion: The India vs Zimbabwe match is underway as both the teams will clash against each other to win the match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Thursday. Both teams entered this match after losing their first Super 8 match. The co-hosts were asked to bat first after Sikandar Raza won the toss on a well-batted wicket.

The India national cricket team has made two changes after their last defeat against South Africa last Sunday. Sanju Samson and Akshar Patel were brought back in place of Rinku Singh and Washington Sundar. Sanju got his second match of the competition and gave the perfect start that India needed in this match.

Sanju Samson failed to give a good start

However, Sanju Samson could not convert his start of 24 runs off 15 balls into a big score. He was caught out at deep midwicket in the 3.4th over, with Blessing Muzarabani taking the wicket of the explosive opener. However, they gave a good start to India by making a partnership of 48 runs for the first wicket.

However, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar gave a critical assessment of Sanju Samson’s dismissal, as the former captain had found a similar type of pattern in his way of dismissal. Teams have targeted that area for Sanju Samson to cramp him on the leg side as he has been out many times playing shots on the leg side while pulling or hooking fast bowlers.

He will be disappointed because he has been out many times – Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar, commenting on StarSports, said, “He will be disappointed, because he has been out in that area many times. Everyone knows to bowl the short ball, bowl it to deep square leg. And again, it is Muzarabani’s height, which has allowed the ball to bounce a bit more.”

“That’s why he didn’t get down to the middle of the bat. And so he started very well, making 24 off 15. But he was out in the deep once again. And India lost their first wicket at 48.”

Indian batsmen were in form against Zimbabwe

Talking about the game, India did not have a good start and scored 80 runs for the loss of one wicket in the powerplay. Abhishek Sharma may have got his rhythm back and scored 55 off 30 as the southpaw took his time and hit four sixes and the same number of fours in his stormy innings. Ishan Kishan was once again performing brilliantly and played an inning of 38 runs in 24 balls.

Suryakumar Yadav also played an important inning of 33 runs in 14 balls. Later, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Verma were absolutely lethal as they scored 55 runs in the last three overs. Hardik scored 50 runs in 23 balls with the help of two fours and four sixes and Tilak Verma scored 44 runs in 26 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes.

With this, India scored a huge score of 256/4 in 20 overs. This is the highest score of the 2026 T20 World Cup and the second highest score of the T20 World Cup.
