Former England captain revealed the name of the winner of 2027 ODI World Cup!

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has backed the Indian cricket team for their great form and rated them unbeaten, claiming that their next target should be to win the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa as they see no one stopping them.

India has been unbeatable in ICC tournaments; The only match they have lost in ICC tournaments in the last 2 years is the Super 8 match against South Africa in the T20 World Cup, which, however, could not jeopardize their title defence.

After India’s brilliant performance, former English captain Michael Vaughan seems quite impressed with their dominance. He has compared them to the powerful Australian team, who once had a similar dominance in white ball cricket.

Michael Vaughan gives importance to England and praises Australia and India

World cricket giants Australia are undoubtedly the most successful team in the history of ICC tournaments, especially considering their record in the ICC World Cup. They have won six ODI World Cups, one T20 World Cup and one WTC as well as a few Champions Trophies.

However, what is more memorable for Vaughan is his unbeatable dominance between 1999 and 2007, when Australia was the leading team in the world of white-ball cricket and won three consecutive World Cups. He has described the recent form of India as a reflection of such dominance.

However, while speaking on Cricbuzz Live, he said that he once mentioned Darren Gough that England had won the trophy in 2019 and 2022, but they never dominated white-ball cricket like these two.

Vaughan lauds the depth of Indian cricket in recent times

Vaughan expressed his opinion about the growing depth of Indian cricket and how his other team is equally capable of going out and winning the World Cup against the professionals, if one or two players such as Jasprit Bumrah are included in that team. He said:

“I was just asking Jinks (Ajinkya Rahane), actually, the last time there was an Indian second team, I don’t think they probably came second in the tournament. You look at the number of players we have in this team, it could be one or two bowlers, and Bumrah could be the difference, but if you can put Jasprit in that team, it can probably win the World Cup. The depth is just remarkable, and that’s the target that Indian cricket should set.”

The English captain also cited the role of the IPL in shaping modern Indian cricket and giving birth to new cricketers every year who have helped India carry forward the legacy among them.

Michael Vaughan declares India as favorite for 2027 ODI World Cup

While the Indians will be eyeing victory in the 2027 ODI World Cup as this will be the last time Indian legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play an international tournament for the Men in Blue, the former English captain has backed them to win it.

Michael Vaughan declared, “They should have won the 50-over World Cup; they didn’t. They won the T20 World Cup, the Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup and now they’ve won this. I can’t see anyone stopping them in South Africa in 2027. Indian cricket is aiming to win the World Cup in 2027.”

It seems clear that for Gautam Gambhir and the Indian team management, their next target is to win the 2027 ODI World Cup, before they move on to preparations for the 2028 Olympics and the ICC T20 World Cup in the same year.
