Former English cricketer Michael Vaughan has described Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah as the best T20 bowler ever. This statement from the English cricketer comes after Bumrah helped India win two consecutive T20 World Cups.

Jasprit is often considered India’s top card in ICC events, having made India one of the most unbeaten teams in modern international cricket. This fast bowler has worked his magic on almost every track in the world and in all conditions. Whenever India needs an attacking bowler, Jasprit Bumrah steps up for the Men in Blue.

He will be seen in action for Mumbai Indians in the upcoming IPL 2026, as his franchise will face Kolkata Knight Riders in their first game on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Michael Vaughan picks Jasprit Bumrah as the greatest T20 bowler of all time

Former English batsman Michael Vaughan never tried to hide his immense respect for the Indian fast bowler. On several occasions, the Englishman has admitted that Bumrah is undoubtedly one of the greatest fast bowlers in the world today.

Talking about T20 cricket, which did not feature legendary fast bowlers like Wasim Akram, Courtney Walsh, Malcolm Marshall, Glenn McGrath or Curtly Ambrose, Vaughan did not hesitate in calling Bumrah the greatest T20 bowler of all time.

Jasprit Bumrah was India’s best bowler in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Despite taking fewer wickets than Arshdeep Singh in the tournament, he was named Player of the Tournament for his impressive spells that troubled the opposition financially.

In that World Cup, Bumrah took 15 wickets and did not concede runs at an economy rate of more than 6, making the other bowlers in the Indian attack lethal as the batsmen had to take unexpected risks against him.

Bumrah had a decent start to the T20 World Cup 2026, not being up to his standards in 2026, but he took wickets and bowled brilliantly whenever India needed him on big occasions.

He took two crucial early wickets against Pakistan, was India’s best bowler against South Africa, restricted the opposition to runs in the semi-finals and bowled brilliantly in the final to lead India to its second World Cup title in two years. He was the player of the match in the final.

Where is Bumrah in ICC T20I bowling rankings?

Legendary Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is currently the greatest bowler in the shortest format of the game. He has been a true master of the format, no matter which league he has played in.

Bumrah is currently ranked sixth in the ICC men’s bowling rankings in T20Is. Indian spinner Varun Chakraborty was included in the ICC rankings in place of Rashid Khan. Before the World Cup, Jasprit Bumrah was in seventh place and he has moved up one place from Adam Zampa.

Michael Vaughan’s compatriot Adil Rashid also moved up one place to fourth in the ICC men’s rankings.
