Three-time IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are under a lot of pressure at the moment as they have lost both their last matches of IPL 2026. The Knights are empty handed after losing 2 out of 2 games. Before their third match of the ongoing tournament, they need to fix some cracks on the wall as soon as possible, otherwise, they may have to face more brutal consequences.

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin expressed concern over the team’s body language and style of play after their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hyderabad gave a crushing defeat to Kolkata at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Ashwin was afraid to admit that not a single bowler impressed him against Hyderabad. The former cricketer said that there may be one or two shortcomings in a team. But the matter is more complicated for KKR; Their entire bowling unit looked fragile.

“KKR will face a lot of problems this season. Forget about their batting, bowling and all that. The way they played this game and the last game, I think they don’t have a bowler they can rely on for four overs. Varun Chakravarthy, who was a standout bowler for Kolkata Knight Riders in the last few seasons, was completely out of form in his last two assignments. Hyderabad batsman Abhishek Sharma destroyed this spinner by giving 25 runs in one over in Kolkata.

Ashwin stressed that all players have gone through very difficult phases in their respective careers and Varun Chakravarthy is no exception. The former cricketer suggested the KKR spinner to take some time to get his form back.
“What happens to a bowler is when he gets hit a lot, for Varun it is a time he has never seen before. It is a huge blow for him. When I see him, I feel his confidence is very low. If you are under so much pressure, there are ways to improve your practice. I think he needs to take some time off.”
He said about Varun Chakravarthy’s recent form for Kolkata Knight Riders, “This phase comes to everyone, where bowlers will pick you easily and also score runs. The game is pushing you to find a way and move forward. They have to find answers.”
