Just a few hours ago the news came that Hardik Pandya is going to join the team for the ODI series against Afghanistan. Now suddenly on the morning of June 10, news came that Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the India vs Afghanistan ODI series due to a fresh injury.

Injuries are part of a player’s career; It is the period between two contrasting news that is making cricket fans think differently. According to the latest reports, Pandya has been ruled out of the Afghanistan ODI series due to quadriceps strain.

Hardik Pandya remains India’s most important ODI all-rounder

News agency PTI also reported that the fast bowling all-rounder was likely to join the team just hours before the latest development.

“Cleared to play just hours ago, India all-rounder Hardik Pandya was ruled out of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan on Wednesday due to a quadriceps strain,” PTI reported.

No matter Pandya’s IPL 2026 performance with Mumbai Indians, whenever he played for the national team, he tried to give his best performance. He played a key role in both the occasions when the Men in Blue claimed the 2024 and 2026 ICC T20 World Cup titles. Due to his consistent all-round performances throughout the season, he was named in the ICC Team of the Tournament, and finished the campaign with nine wickets and important batting cameos.

There are many fast bowling all-rounders in Indian cricket, but as of now none of them comes anywhere near the stature of Hardik Pandya. Since he has been ruled out of the ODI series, Nitish Kumar Reddy is the only seam bowling all-rounder in the current squad.

Shivam Dubey is another fast bowling all-rounder who has made a name for himself in T20Is, but he has had a poor performance in the IPL 2026 season as well. Harshit Rana, who emerged as a fast bowler before developing his batting skills, missed the entire T20 World Cup 20206 and IPL 2026 due to injury.

Questions keep arising regarding fitness

Indian star cricketers, who play for the national team and in the Indian Premier League, are often at risk of injury concerns due to their busy schedules. There is a lot of news coming regarding injuries during the IPL 2026 season.

Jasprit Bumrah, Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Varun Chakravarthy and Virat Kohli are the players whose comeback is a matter of concern due to injury concerns. It can’t be denied, the increasing demands on the cricket calendar comes with a number of injury-related updates. It is the duty of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to protect their top-class talents.

BCCI not sure about Hardik Pandya’s form and fitness for 2027 World Cup

ODIs are very important before the 2027 ODI World Cup. Under the reign of head coach Gautam Gambhir, the team management mostly relies on emerging talents rather than senior cricketers.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who have done a lot for the national team in the last few years, are also not sure of playing the upcoming World Cup. Pandya’s place in the playing combination also seems to be in danger.
