Indian Premier League (IPL) star batsman Shashank Singh and his father, retired IPS officer Shailesh Singh, have both been booked in Bhopal. A father and son are accused of assaulting and abusing a newly appointed employee in their house.
The victim has lodged a complaint at Ratibad police station accusing Shashank and his father. The victim, Vipendra Singh Tomar, who was employed as a cook in his house, alleged that Shashank Singh and Shailesh Singh used abusive language against him and also physically assaulted him.

Vipendra also claimed that Shailesh Singh snatched his phone so that he could not contact anyone. Police have started investigation based on the complaint. After the investigation, action will be taken based on its results.
“When I saw the humiliating environment and expressed my desire to leave the job and return home, they became angry,” the complainant said in her report.
Vipendra Singh Tomar was a newly appointed employee in the house.
According to the written complaint filed by cook Vipendra Singh Tomar, he was recently appointed to a new job as a cook at the former police officer’s Nilbad bungalow with a monthly salary of only Rs 15,000 and other benefits like free accommodation and food. It has also been claimed that he was promised a government job.
As soon as he took over the job, Vipendra Singh Tomar started facing difficulties. In fact, according to media reports, a complaint was lodged at the police station within a few hours of assuming the job. It is believed that the situation soon turned against Vipendra Singh Tomar due to the quality of the food prepared by him.
The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS): Section 296 (B) obscene acts and public verbal abuse; Section 115(2) voluntarily causing hurt/assault and Section 3(5) joint criminal liability (act done by several persons with common intention).

It is also reported that after medical examination by the police, injury marks were found on the face and body of the victim. According to news agency ANI, their driver also joined the father and son and beat him brutally. Vipendra went inside a room to save himself, but they opened the door and started assaulting him.
According to an ANI report published on June 30, “To save himself, he locked himself inside a room. However, the father-son duo, along with his driver, allegedly opened the door and brutally assaulted him. Medical examination conducted by the police later confirmed that the victim had visible injury marks on his face and body.”
Shashank Singh is best known for his stint with Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League. During the team’s run to the finals of the tournament in 2025, Shashank Singh played a vital role under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. In the next season, Shashank Singh had to struggle with his form as well as some fitness problems.
