Delhi Capitals has not been winning games regularly in this season of IPL; However, their performances in most of the games have impressed their fans until they faced the Royal Challengers on their home ground.
They last faced off against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and the Capitals ended the defending champions’ winning streak on their home turf in this edition of the competition. Players like KL Rahul, Tristan Stubbs and David Miller performed well with the bat.
Delhi Capitals had to put up some serious struggles with the bat against Royal Challengers Bangalore as they were bundled out for less than a hundred on their own home ground at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Delhi Capitals struggling with lowest ever score in powerplay
This is the same Delhi Capitals who scored the highest score in this edition of the competition in the previous game at the same venue at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. However, it is not the same pitch, and it is not the same bowling attack they were batting against.
The Capitals also missed reaching double figures in the power play overs before losing six wickets within the first five overs of the game. Due to the batsmen’s struggles, Capitals had to bring in their influential player Abhishek Porel.
Despite some shots from Abhishek and David Miller after the powerplay and later the inclusion of Kyle Jamieson, Delhi Capitals could not play their quota of 20 overs. They were out for just 75 runs on the board.
DC fans thank Abhishek Porel after win-saving innings against RCB
Influential batsman Abhishek Porel found some reliance on a pitch that was too challenging for the rest of DC’s batsmen; However, he never incorporated other players into that lineup, which led to the Capitals’ tragic collapse.
However, it was due to Porel’s valuable 30 runs that they went past the lowest ever IPL score of 49 runs, a previously unwanted IPL record held by Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Porel was highly praised for his innings, as he was the last man out. Many have also questioned the motives of the DC unit for not considering his name in the starting eleven along with veteran Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw.
“No shame Team DC.” Fans troll Delhi Capitals for disrespectful performance against RCB in IPL 2026
Everyone thought that RCB’s record of 49 would be broken….but Sunrisers’ record has been broken today.
He scored 14 runs in powerplay which was the lowest in 2022, now DC is at 13 runs in PP.

From going from 9 out of 6 to 49 in the DCVSRCB, when the bar drops so low, just hanging in there starts to feel like a victory in itself.

Rajat Patidar doesn’t want anyone to break Virat Kohli’s record of 49 so he gives the ball to Sheppard and makes sure it belongs to the King
Whatever may be the case, Patidar is still the best captain of RCB. #DCvsRCB #RCBvsDC @IPL #IPL2026 #TATAIPL– Nitz (@nitz6190) 27 April 2026
Rajat Patidar ruined DC 11/6, Bhuvi Hazlewood stayed at 1 over each, didn’t need to stop for death overs, gave ball to Ramario, Rasik, Suyasha

Everyone is waiting for 49 records.
Meanwhile, captain Rajat Patidar gave the ball to R Shepard, due to which this record will always be with us. #DCvsRCB pic.twitter.com/bo4BeDiGQU– Gaurav (@Gaurav_HRX) 27 April 2026
The franchisees should be fired along with the owners. Delhi Capitals need a completely fresh start with new ownership and new team management.
