New Zealand batsman Daryl Mitchell has once again become the biggest headache for India in ODI cricket as he continued his golden journey in the ongoing three-match series by scoring another brilliant century on Indian soil. After scoring a series-levelling century in Rajkot, Daryl Mitchell scored another century in the series decider in Indore on 18 January.

Mitchell completed his century in a calm and classy manner. Ravindra Jadeja bowled a ball slightly outside the off stump and Mitchell slowly played it to the off side for a single, thereby completing his second consecutive century in the ongoing ODI series against India.

As soon as he reached there, Mitchell could not hide his emotions. He roared in celebration as the New Zealand dressing room applauded for another masterclass. This innings is Mitchell’s third century in his last four ODI innings and the ninth century of his ODI career.

Although the 34-year-old survived two close run-out scares in the first, his overall innings was clean, confident and impressive. With this century, Mitchell has now reached second place in the list of players who have scored most ODI centuries against India.

Records fall as Mitchell reaches top list against India in ODI

With his fourth century on Indian soil, the New Zealand star is now behind South African great AB de Villiers. De Villiers remains on top with five centuries in 11 innings, while Mitchell has reached four centuries in just seven innings in ODI cricket.

He has also become the second New Zealander to score the most ODI centuries against India. Well, Mitchell’s dominance against India in ODI cricket is getting stronger with every series. The New Zealand batsman has scored brilliantly in his last seven ODI innings against India, registering scores of 130, 134, 17, 63, 84, 131* and 114*.

Mitchell created history, New Zealand eyes historic series win

Earlier during the ongoing ODI series decider, Mitchell etched his name in the history books as he became the first batsman in the world to register five consecutive 50-plus scores in India in this format. He is currently batting on 125 and has already made a 150+ partnership with Glenn Phillips as the Black Caps crossed the 250-run mark in the final ODI against India at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
