Rajat Patidar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar not selected: The India national cricket team is finally back as they host the Afghanistan national cricket team at the New Chandigarh Stadium for a one-off Test match today. During the Test match, three Men in Blue squads have been announced for the Ireland and England tours as well as the Asian Games. New faces have been included.
Some new names have been added to the team, such as T20 World Cup 2026-winning captain Suryakumar Yadav, who has been removed from the captaincy role and Shreyas Iyer has been given the responsibility. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has earned his first call-up to the senior team for the first time.
Rajat Patidar has not got a place in the Indian team
However, the shocking fact is that some names are missing from the team, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar has not got a place in the team. The two-time Tata Indian Premier League (IPL)-winning captain has been sidelined for the upcoming three series. He has been in great form over the last two seasons and deserves a place in the team.
Every former cricketer urged that Rajat Patidar should be in the T20I setup for India for his excellent hitting skills and playing spin well. This season, he has scored over 500 runs, and his strike rate has been over 190, and he has also led RCB to their second IPL title this season. He needs a chance to showcase his talent in international cricket.
Why is Bhuvneshwar Kumar not in India’s T20I team?
Apart from Patidar, another excellent player of RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has also been dropped from the team. He has been performing consistently over the last few seasons and has rediscovered his form and pace. This season, he also finished as the leading wicket-taker for the franchise and bowled consistently well throughout the season.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 28 wickets, one less than Kagiso Rabada, who took 29 wickets and won the Purple Cap. However, his main concern is his age as he is already 36 years old and it will be a tough thing for a fast bowler to stay fit till the 2028 T20 World Cup. But he can be given some chances in the coming years and given a proper farewell from the national team.
Indian team for England and Ireland: Shreyas Iyer (C), Tilak Verma (VC), Ravi Bishnoi, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Mohammed Siraj, Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Ishan Kishan, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dubey, Varun Chakraborty, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Fans react to Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rajat Patidar’s India T20I snub
Gautam Gambhir’s hatred for RCB is quite clear and obvious, as we can see, not a single RCB player (Rajat Patidar, Bhuvi, Krunal etc.)

Rajat Patidar deserves a place

So BCCI can choose Gambhir as coach based on his IPL accolades, but they can’t do the same for Rajat Patidar? https://t.co/r52mzM3PNi

Yes, most of them but are unhappy that they did not give a chance to Bhuvneshwar Kumar or Rajat Patidar.

Why did Harshit Rana get more benefit than Bhuvneshwar Kumar?
Asian Games T20 World Cup

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s exclusion is shocking.
Why is Harshit Rana being promoted without proving himself and main bowler Bhuvneshwar is being ignored? He should have been a part of the Asian Games and T20 World Cup.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s performance will be much better than Harshit Rana.
