KKR’s defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore has turned the tables for the Knight Riders. Not only did their four-match winning streak end, but they were also mathematically out of the playoff race. RCB and GT are clearly securing a place in the playoffs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore has been successful in winning its eighth match of the season after playing 12 matches in the season. They have now reclaimed their position at the top of the IPL 2026 points table, and Kohli has once again been the reason for victory for RCB.

Virat Kohli scored his ninth IPL century; Former RCB player Chris Gayle’s world record broken
Kohli set out to chase the target after the clash with Kolkata Knight Riders in Raipur. After being out for ducks in the last two matches of the season, Kohli returned to the top of the Orange Cap list in this IPL with a brilliant century.
After that powerful shot, Virat did not give even the slightest chance after the ball hit the hands of Rovman Powell in the cover area. After this he continued the attack in a big partnership and took the chase forward by scoring 105* runs.
With this he completed 14000 runs in T20 cricket and became the first Indian player to reach this milestone. He also broke the former record of Chris Gayle by scoring 14000+ runs in just 409* innings in the shortest format of the game.

Kohli’s unmatched record of scoring runs in IPL
Moving past 400 runs this season, the former India captain has reached 484 runs while chasing the target against KKR. He is behind only Sunrisers’ Heinrich Klaasen and Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudarshan.
With 400+ runs this season too, the veteran Indian batsman extended his own record in the IPL. He became the first batsman to score 400+ runs in 12 seasons, extending his lead over David Warner, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma.
This century is the ninth century of his IPL career, while he also became the first Indian batsman to score 10 centuries in his T20 career.
