Team India in the final of T20 World Cup 2026. In a fierce battle at the Wankhede Cricket Stadium, the defending champions defeated England by 7 runs. The team led by Suryakumar Yadav is just one step away from creating history.
As soon as Shivam Dubey bowled the last ball of the match, the whole country got into a celebratory mood. England’s middle-order batsman Jacob Bethel tried his best to spoil the party, but Hardik Pandya did not let him do so.
Exciting match till the last over
In the last over of the match, England needed 30 runs to surpass the Men in Blue’s total of 253 runs, with Jacob Bethell, the centurion, in the middle. Bethel was the loan batsman for the England cricket team in the run chase. He scored 105 runs in 48 balls with the help of eight fours and seven sixes. It was because of this middle-order batsman that the match dragged on till the last over.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav handed the ball to fast bowling all-rounder Shivam Dubey for the last over. Bethel was on strike. He hit directly, but Hardik Pandya was ready. Since Bethel was the last hope for the England cricket team, he ran for another run. But Hardik’s throw was fast and accurate.
Hardik Pandya can emerge at the right time
Keeper Sanju Samson quickly collected the balls in his gloves and uprooted the bails from the stumps. Jacob Bethel out, England’s last hope also ends. The team captained by Harry Brook scored 246 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs and India won the match by 7 runs.
Social media is filled with countless reactions from the entire Indian cricket fan community. Everyone is starting to smell another T20 World Cup trophy. In the final, the Men in Blue will face New Zealand on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
England captain Harry Brook explains why they lost
England captain Harry Brook said after the match, “We thought there might be a bit of grip at the start because the pitch was fresh and we expected a bit more spin in the first innings. But it didn’t work out that way. Obviously, they (the Indian batting) played very well. All our players should be really proud of the way we played tonight and throughout this contest.”
“Maybe we didn’t perform as well as we could have. But Indian batsmen are some of the best in the world and if you perform wrong against them, the ball goes out of the park,” he said.
