England captain Harry Brook said after the match, “We thought there might be a bit of grip at the start because the pitch was fresh and we expected a bit more spin in the first innings. But it didn’t work out that way. Obviously, they (the Indian batting) played very well. All our players should be really proud of the way we played tonight and throughout this contest.”

“Maybe we didn’t perform as well as we could have. But Indian batsmen are some of the best in the world and if you perform wrong against them, the ball goes out of the park,” he said.
