Former Pakistani cricketer Tanvir Ahmed criticized veteran Pakistani cricketer Fakhar Zaman for not managing his injury concerns properly. His lack of fitness has been a big issue for Pakistan in ICC tournaments.
Fakhar Zaman is now one of the most experienced cricketers in the Pakistan national team; However, he does not get as much playing time as a senior professional like him should. One reason for this could be the Pakistan management not using him wisely, but his frequent injuries are also a matter of great concern.
Unlike Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman has been in great form in the competition. His impact was clearly seen in Pakistan’s final appearance in the series, when he eventually opened the innings with Sahibzada Farhan and gave Pakistan an early lead of 150+.
Fakhar Zaman dismisses Aaqib Javed’s claims with brilliant fielding effort
After Pakistan ended a poor campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, PCB chief selector Aaqib Javed claimed that the selection committee was not informed that two stalwarts, Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman, were injured ahead of the T20 World Cup.
However, reverse trolling started with Zaman’s fans who trolled Javed after watching the left-hander take a brilliant catch during the National T20 Cup semi-final between Abbottabad Region and Lahore Region Whites.
The video of the Pakistani cricketer’s brilliant fielding effort went viral on social media, and many people claimed that the cricketer was not injured even once, and the selectors wrongly blamed him.
Fakhar admits injury concerns amid participation in National T20 Cup
However, replying to one of the tweets which claimed that he was injured, Fakhar responded by saying that he was too injured to fit into the 50-over setup, resulting in him being dropped from the Bangladesh squad for the ODI series against Bangladesh.
He also admitted that he took part in the National T20 Cup only after passing all his fitness tests on March 15 before reaching the semi-finals. After passing all the fitness tests, he will be seen in the PSL season.
“I was not 100% fit to play 50-over games. In that case, Aaqib Javed was right. I am playing these games after passing the fitness test on the 15th,” Fakhar wrote on Twitter.
Tanvir criticizes Pakistani opener for lack of fitness awareness
Former Pakistani cricketer Tanvir Ahmed, who has emerged as a prominent critic of Pakistani cricketers due to their poor performances in ICC tournaments as well as bilateral matches during the last few years, has now criticized the Pakistani opening batsman.
He said, “Fakhar Zaman has been playing professional cricket for many years. I don’t understand what kind of professional player gets unfit at every opportunity. I seriously can’t understand; when will he work on improving his fitness?”
Tanvir Ahmed questions Fakhar Zaman’s fitness, pointing out that the opening batsman often struggles to remain fully fit despite years in professional cricket
