Texas Super Kings (TSK) captain Faf du Plessis takes a brilliant catch to dismiss San Francisco Unicorns (SFU) batsman Luan-Dre Pretorius during the Major League Cricket 2026 (MLC 2026) encounter at the Oakland Coliseum on Thursday, June 25.
Du Plessis is regarded as one of the best fielders the game has ever seen. The former South Africa captain has amazed fans throughout his career both at the highest level and in the franchise world with his quick reactions, fearless diving and incredible catching ability.
He is also famous for taking amazing catches and saving crucial runs near the boundary line. His greatest strength is his excellent awareness of the ropes. He uses the famous “tap and jump” technique, where he pushes the ball back into the ground while flying in the air to prevent some sixes. Recently Faf du Plessis spoke openly about bonding with the Super Kings.
Faf du Plessis took a brilliant catch with one hand in the MLC 2026 match.
Faf du Plessis’ athleticism was top-notch at the Oakland Coliseum. The big moment came on the third ball of the 93rd over when Texas Super Kings spinner Amashi de Silva was bowling to San Francisco Unicorns batsman Luan-Dre Pretorius in the MLC 2026 game.
Pretorius tried to attack the delivery and hit the ball hard towards the wide mid-off region. For a moment it looked as if the shot would beat the fielder safely. However, Faf du Plessis had other plans. Faf showed incredible athleticism as he quickly moved to his right and launched himself into the air.
While fully stretched, the former South Africa captain managed to hold the ball with just one hand as he completed a sensational catch to dismiss Luan-Dre Pretorius for 17 off 15 balls, hitting a six. The most surprising thing was that when Du Plessis received the ball, he was still in the air.
Here’s how Faf du Plessis shows why he is one of the greatest fielders of all time:

Big blow for Texas Super Kings, Nandre Berger out of MLC 2026
In a major blow to the Texas Super Kings and Faf du Plessis, Nandre Berger’s Major League Cricket 2026 campaign has ended on a disappointing note after the South African pacer was ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury.
The left-arm fast bowler’s old lower back problem has resurfaced. Later, medical scans confirmed the problem and he will now undergo rehabilitation. Burger played in the team’s first two matches this season. His performance against the San Francisco Unicorns proved to be his final appearance in the tournament and he was subsequently replaced in the playing eleven by New Zealand fast bowler Adam Milne.
Diane Forrester replaced Nandre Berger.
Later, the Texas Super Kings franchise signed South African Dianne Forrester as Berger’s replacement. The young batting all-rounder is one of South Africa’s rising talents, and has already played five matches for his country and is known for his aggressive batting style.
The 21-year-old recently toured England with South Africa A, represented Joburg Super Kings in the SA20, and was also a part of Chennai Super Kings during IPL 2026 after being included as a replacement player. Forrester now has a big opportunity to make an impact and prove himself on another major stage.
