Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma has enjoyed a legacy with Virat Kohli, as the two have shared the dressing room for almost their entire career. They are one of the most successful batting pairs in the history of ODI cricket.
India and their fans once again saw why Virat Kohli is called the GOAT, irrespective of any generation of cricket. Kohli’s innings of 135 in Ranchi not only redefined him as a cricketer but also established the fact that class is permanent and age is just a number.
Kohli not only scored a century but he also took care that his innings always looked aggressive. He scored a century and hit a total of 18 fours in his innings, out of which 7 were sixes. Kohli once again set the bar very high with his bullet speed between the wickets.
Rohit Sharma celebrates Virat Kohli’s century with some undeniable aggression
Almost 50% or more of the runs in Virat’s innings of 135 runs came when he was batting in partnership with opener Rohit Sharma. Rohit, who himself likes the tag of being aggressive, remained calm and watched Kohli be as aggressive as ever on the track.
Both of them made another partnership of 100 runs and during this Kohli crossed his half-century mark. Kohli looked unstoppable with Rohit at the other end, but after his dismissal the innings progressed a little slower and more sensibly, which was probably the right thing.
When Rohit sat on the balcony of the Indian dressing room, he celebrated Virat Kohli’s century with the same aggression as the Indian legend and then smiled. He stood up and clapped his hands as a symbol of happiness.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are now the second most successful batting pair in ODIs
Setting new standards even at the age of 37 and 38 respectively, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma not only added 100+ runs in partnerships for India but also surpassed the tally of former Sri Lankan pair Dilshan and Sangakkara in partnerships in ODI cricket.
Hence, they are now the second highest scoring pair in the partnership with 5619* runs and also stand strong with 20 century partnerships, which is also the joint second highest for the game. He is behind only former Indian players Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar.
Virat Kohli is the player to score the most centuries in any one format.
With the latest Ranchi century, India’s greatest ever ODI batsman has climbed a new ladder and created a new record. Virat scored his 52nd century in the 50 over format and 83rd overall. With his 52nd century, he now has the most centuries in a single edition of the game.
Kohli has overtaken Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most centuries in a single format as he has 51 centuries in red-ball international cricket. It seems like this is one of those records that will remain unbroken for a long time in the history of the game.
