England vs New Zealand Match Preview:

England Women will take on New Zealand Women in the second T20I of the three-match series at the St. Lawrence Ground, Canterbury on Saturday, May 23, 2026. After a stellar performance in the opening game, the hosts currently lead the series 1-0 and will be aiming to secure the series with another win. Meanwhile, New Zealand women will have to respond strongly to keep their hopes alive. England enter the competition with a strong chance of winning at 65.8%, while the White Ferns have a 34.2% chance of leveling the series.

In the opening T20 match in Derby, England Women won the toss and elected to bowl first and immediately put pressure on the visiting team with a disciplined bowling performance. New Zealand Women could only manage 136/7 in their 20 overs despite an aggressive innings from captain Sophie Devine, who scored 45 runs in just 22 balls including three consecutive sixes against Sophie Ecclestone.

Izzy Sharp added 26 not out at the end of the innings, while Maddy Green contributed 23 runs. However, the England bowling attack maintained excellent control throughout the innings. Lauren Bell and Charlie Dean took two wickets each, while Lynsey Smith bowled an excellent spell of 1/10 from four overs to effectively limit the scoring rate.

During the chase, England Women easily achieved the target in 17.2 overs and won by seven wickets. Alice Capsey, after starting the innings, performed brilliantly with the bat and remained unbeaten on 74 runs with the help of seven fours and three sixes in 51 balls. Apart from this, Freya Kemp played a brilliant inning of 31 not out in just 20 balls to help England win easily.

Although Brian Illing impressed for New Zealand with two wickets for 19 runs, the visitors struggled to stem the flow of runs, especially after Jess Kerr conceded 46 runs in four overs. Therefore, New Zealand Women will need a much sharper performance in both the powerplay and death overs to avoid losing the series.
