The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced their play for the first ODI of the upcoming series against South Africa in Headingly on Tuesday, 2 September. Hampshire fast bowler Soni Baker has been selected in the team and will start his international during the series opener.
Baker made headlines in a hundred competition by playing for Manchester Originals against the northern supercharges of Harry Brook. Baker Sam Curan, Imran Tahir and Tymel Mills became only the fourth bowler in the history of men’s hundred to get a hat -trick.

The board issued a statement, “Sunny Baker is set to start its England men in the first metro bank ODI against South Africa on Tuesday, which was placed in the early XI of Harry Brook.”

Baker has made a name for himself with high-speed delivery that often more than 90 mph and rare skills to swing the ball at such a speed.
The 22 -year -old fast bowlers were impressed in domestic white ball cricket, which included notable performances in a hundred for England Lions and Manchester Original. Earlier this year, Baker started the first class for England Lions in Sydney against Australia A.
He earned a young woman call-up for the England squad for the South Africa series. For the first ODI, Baker will share bowling duties with Joffra Archer and Bridan Cars, which return after remembering the final test against India, while Adil Rashid manages the spin on the home ground.
