England announce playing XI for 2nd T20I; Star performers left out of Josh Towne’s T-20 debut

India vs England 2nd T20 match will be played on Saturday, July 4 in Manchester. This match is going to be held at the prestigious Emirates Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester. After the first match was canceled due to rain, fans and cricketers are hopeful that they will get to see the entire match on the weekend.

The match is scheduled to start at 9:30 pm Indian time. Before the second game, the home team England has announced its playing eleven for this match. They have made a few changes to the team they fielded in the first game against the Men in Blue, as one of the changes has been surprising in terms of performance.

Josh Toonge makes T20I debut for England

Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue, who missed the first T20I due to workload management, have returned to the playing eleven. As a result, they have dropped Luke Wood and Saqib Mahmood. The latter was his best bowler in the first game, as he ended his spell with 3/33 from his four overs.

Shakib took the key wickets of Saju Samson, Shreyas Iyer and Tilak Verma. He bowled brilliantly in the match, and it is a shock call from the Three Lions, as is Josh Tongue, who replaces the former and is set to make his T20 debut after being included.

Joffra Archer returns after missing the first T20 match

Jofra Archer’s return to the side will definitely add to the team’s strength, as the veteran fast bowler has been in amazing form for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the recent Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, and finished as the leading wicket-taker for the franchise with 25 wickets, which was also the third-highest in the tournament.

Archer missed the first game due to workload, as he had recently played a Test match series against New Zealand, and for this reason, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) did not risk him in the first game, which was a few days after the third Test. He will definitely try to take wickets with the new ball.

England also announced their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India on Friday. The 50-over series is followed by the 5-match T20I series. The ODI series is scheduled to start from July 14.
