East India Batter Sanjay Manjrekar Have raised questions Shubman GillOn-field conduct after India’s heartbreaking loss against the third Test England On the Lord. The 25-year-old Indian captain, who was in unprecedented touch in the first two tests, was involved in a warm exchange. Zak Croly – And it can be expensive to him.
Gill, who scored three centuries in the series, was dismissed for just 6 in the second innings the next morning. India tested 22 runs in the five-match series and now 1-2.
Sanjay Manjrekar compare between Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill’s sledging game
Speaking ESPNcricinfoOn the match day, Manjrekar told that while Virat Kohli Used to flourish in the collision and lift their game, Gill’s oral battle seemed to throw him out of the balance instead of inspiring him.
“With Kohli, aggression made her strong – when things became hot, she became a better batsman. But Gill’s reaction was different. It did not help her. Manjrekar said.
Sudden aggression cannot suit Gill’s natural game
Manjrekar said that Gill never appears a player who feeds the oral couple. He questioned whether the newly-called captaincy and recent success felt the need to make Gill herself unnecessarily vocal.
“If Gill was naturally fierce, we must have seen it first in his career. Kohli was always ready for a scrap – even before becoming a captain. With Gill, it seems something new, maybe inspired by recent success or leadership responsibilities,” He said.
Gill came in a red-hot form in the Lord’s Test, who scored 485 runs in just five innings. But the second innings at Lord’s presented a difficult scenario – a new ball and a responsible pitch. According to Manjrekar, the additional pressure he had put on himself by engaging in sledging could work against him.
“He attracted attention to himself at the wrong time. It was not like an earlier innings with a soft ball and flat pitch. It was a real test of skill and nature,” Manjrekar explained.
Still a few days away with the fourth test, Manjrekar believes that it is the right window to re -organize and reset Gill – both mentally and technically.
“This eight-day break is ideal. There are good people around him-especially his father, who has played a big role in his development. Gill does not need to be Kohli or Dhoni. They just need to find out who he wants to be-and ensure that his lead helps his batting, does not harm it,” Manjrekar added further.
