Ellyse Perry has starred for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL). The Australia allrounder has played a key role in RCB’s march to the final.
After a disappointing campaign in the inaugural season of the WPL last year, the Bengaluru-based outfit has defied the odds to enter the final of WPL 2024. A huge credit for the remarkable turnaround in their fortunes should go to Ellyse Perry. She starred with both bat and ball in the last two games against reigning champions Mumbai Indians.
Her performances not only helped RCB qualify for the final but also saw MI getting dumped out of the tournament. In RCB’s last league game, Ellyse Perry picked up 6 wickets for just 15 runs and scored an unbeaten 40 to help her team qualify for the playoffs. In the Eliminator, she impressed again, scoring 66 runs and taking 1 wicket, as RCB beat MI by five runs to book their place in the final.
With Ellyse Perry hogging all the limelight, an old video of one of her interviews from 2020 has been re-shared by several social media users. In the interview, the presenter asked the Australian star about her reaction to ex-India batter Murali Vijay revealing that he would like to go on a dinner with her.
“Murali Vijay, in an interview was asked, if after the lockdown there were two people he would want to go on dinner with would it be? He said Shikhar Dhawan, one of his teammates, and you. What would you respond to that?” said the anchor.
In reply, Ellyse Perry came up with a humorous reply, saying: “I hope he is paying if that’s the case. That’s very kind of him. I am very flattered.”

Ellyse Perry excited for the final:
Speaking after the win over MI in the WPL eliminator, a delighted and excited Ellyse Perry said she cannot wait to play the final. She also praised her teammates for the way they have performed this season after the disappointing campaign last year when they managed only two wins in eight games.
“We are ecstatic to get an opportunity to be in the final. To defend a low total like that is awesome. The girls kept calm and pretty awesome performance from the spinners at the end. You gotta take the opportunity when it comes. Nice for me the last couple of games, it has fallen my way,” said Ellyse Perry.
“The way we stayed calm against such a good side is exceptional. The way the girls have come together after last season and we have really enjoyed each other’s company on the field and off it. Overall we hung in there, the girls kept contributing, the old adage of runs on the board in a big game holds true I suppose and it did tonight. Can’t wait (for the final),” she added.
RCB will lock horns against Delhi Capitals in the WPL 2024 final on Sunday (March 17).
