According to media reports, Ellyse Perry’s injury against West Indies was not very serious, due to which she had to leave the field. Since the Australian cricket team wanted to save one of their top talents, they decided to remove him from the field.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Nitschke said there was no definite update on Perry as the team has not held any practice sessions since the semi-final match. The head coach is optimistic about the batsman’s chances of playing in the grand finale, as team selection could be influenced by the caliber of the match. Since the upcoming match is going to be the title decider, the Australian team will try its best to name the strongest possible combination as the opponent team, be it England or South Africa.
“Yeah, potentially,” Shelley Nitschke said in a terse answer when asked about Perry’s future ahead of the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup final.

The head coach also stressed that Ellyse Perry would like to work on a few other things to polish her all-round performance on the field. Considering the importance of the match, from fielding to running between the wickets, the players are expected to put in some rigorous practice before the summit clash.
“I think there’s still some things she wants to be able to do too, [to] He is still able to contribute and hold his own for the team, be it in the field or running between the wickets. But there’s that element, it’s a World Cup final, so what are our tolerances there? So there’s definitely a slightly different lens than some other times,” the Australia women’s cricket team head coach said.
Ellyse Perry has played many match-changing innings for Australia.
Ellyse Perry, now 35, will try her best to cement her legacy by playing and winning the T20 World Cup final for the national team. In 2020 she missed the final due to injury. She will definitely want to repeat it and so will the team.
Currently, in the ongoing title race, the star batsman is one of the key forces that has made Australia look better as a team against all the opponents in the journey so far since the first match of the group stage.
She is currently the team’s leading run scorer with 185 runs at an average of 46.25 and a strike rate of 135.03, which includes half-centuries against Pakistan and India.
