last year, India England played a thrilling 2-2 draw in the five-match Test series against England. Later this year, India are scheduled to tour England once again, but for 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs.

The accounts reported a profit of £12.6 million (about Rs 163.41 crore) on ordinary activities and an improved turnover of £89.4 million (about Rs 1,160 crore) year-on-year. These figures are mainly attributed to lucrative foreign broadcast deals with visits to India.

ECB fears loss in 2027
In the same financial disclosure, the board suggested that the lack of a home series against India next year would ultimately lead to losses.
This statement has serious implications because it basically means England It now joins the growing list of cricket boards that do not make profits unless India is touring them.
The ECB’s financial report clearly states: “Turnover in the year ended 31 January 2026 was £408.9m (approximately Rs 5,304 crore), an increase of £89.4m on the previous year. This is primarily attributed to increased broadcast and ticketing revenues due to India hosting the men’s Test series in 2025.”
“Attention should be drawn to the fact that the ECB’s revenues are inherently cyclical, reflecting the scheduling of high-value broadcast series by the opposition, and while this profile is profitable in the current year and 2026, it is expected to result in a significant loss situation in the 2027 season when the England men’s team will not host a series against India.”
