Former South African captain Dane Van Neekark has reversed his retirement from international cricket and made himself available for national selection. The veteran all -rounder announced the decision on social media on Monday, 25 August and confirmed his full return to the Proteus Women’s Squad.

Van Neekark last played for South Africa in September 2021. She missed the 2022 ODI World Cup due to an ankle fracture, delaying his return as captain. Van Nikarak also struggled to complete a fitness test, including a two -kilometer race. He announced his retirement from international cricket in March 2023.

In the 2024–25 season, Dane Van Nikark returned to domestic cricket with Western province. After his return, he was nominated in the 20-Khiladi expanded team for the East-Vidhi Cup training camp in South Africa, which is scheduled to be in Durban from 25 August to 1 September.

After moving away from international cricket for more than two years, 32 -year -old announced his decision to return. The all -rounder said that she missed representing South Africa and once again confirmed his complete commitment to give him the best for the national team.

“I am thrilled to declare that I have decided to cancel my retirement from international cricket. The time has reminded me how much I have remembered from representing my country and I am committed to give everything completely,” Van Nicher wrote in a statement on Instagram.

South Africa to announce ODI squad for Lahore series after training camp

Dane van Nikark retired in 2023 at the age of 29 after failing to create a squad for a home T20 World Cup due to fitness requirements. Luce Luce captured the captaincy for that tournament.

Van Nikark played 194 matches for South Africa, including 107 Odis, 86 T20i and one Test. He scored 4,074 runs and took 204 wickets. The 32 -year -old won 29 and 15 matches in 50 Odis and 30 T20I respectively.

Following the Durban Training Camp, South Africa will announce its squad for an ODI series of three matches in Lahore, which serves as the final preparation for the ODI World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
