Former India batsman Mohammad Kaif has joined a hot debate as he openly questioned the time of captaincy change, in which Rohit Sharma replaced India as ODI captain by Shubman Gill. He took Rohit Sharma on Instagram to give voice to his disappointment when he dismissed as ODI captain.
Kaif slammed the BCCI and the selectors, saying that a player who had given 16 years to Indian cricket for at least one year as captain, especially on the horizon with the ICC World Cup 2027.

He reminded him that Rohit led India in 16 ICC event matches, winning 15 of them, the only loss in Heartbreaking in the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia.

Mohammad Ked said in a video on his Instagram handle, “Rohit Sharma gave India 16 years, and we could not give him one more year as Captain. 16 In ICC event matches, he won 15 and lost one in the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia.”
