Suresh Raina, a middle-order batter of former Team India, disclosed his all-time Chennai Super Kings (CSK) XI during the podcast. In particular, Raina chose four foreign players in his CSK playing XI, but it did not include opener Ruturaj Gikawad, who is the current captain of the team and won the Orange Cap in 2021.
Raina had a long relationship with Super Kings. The left-handed batsman played for CSK from 2008 to 2015 before returning to a three-season term in 2018. He was part of the MS Dhoni-Nedi team’s four titles win. Raina also worked as Dhoni’s deputy and captained the team in Chennai in his absence.

In a conversation with Shubhankar Mishra on YouTube, Raina revealed his all-time Chennai Super Kings XI. He went as an opener with Murali Vijay and Matthew Hayden, followed by Michael Hussey No. 3.

Raina placed himself at number 4 to anchor the middle order, while Subramaniam Badrinath and Albie Morkel captured the number 5 and number 6 posts respectively.
Vijay scored 1,708 runs in 70 matches for CSK, while Hayden scored 1,107 runs in just 32 matches including Orange Cap in 2009. Hussey is CSK’s current batting coach. Raina remains the team’s leading run-scorer in 176 games with an average of 32.32 and 4,687 runs at a strike rate of 136.93.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been a prominent player for Chennai Super Kings. He was named Captain before the IPL 2024 season. Ruturaj has scored 2,502 runs in 71 matches for franchisees, including two centuries. He is the fourth highest run-scorer in CSK history.

Shadab Jakati did not get recognition – Suresh Raina
The cricketer-turn-commentator said that Shadab Jakti contributed significantly to Chennai Super Kings with a ball, called him an undefied artist. Raina said that during the team’s successful campaigns from 2010 to 2013, it was important.
He said, “I think the ex-factor Shadab used to be held; he did not get recognition. He performed very well when he wins in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. Whatever we worthy of worthy, he did exceptionally well,” he said.
Jakti represented Chennai Super Kings between 2009 and 2012. He took 45 wickets in 50 games at an economy rate of 7.75. The left-arm spinner was part of the CSK squads that won the IPL titles in 2010 and 2011.
