India had already suffered a major blow this morning in the form of an injury to captain Shubman Gill, and now they will be further troubled with Dhruv Jurel going out of the field after injuring his fingers while fielding in an attacking position.
Axar Patel came in to bowl from the other end along with Ravindra Jadeja after the senior spinner ravaged the South African batting order. A few chances were created as Axar took the ball and bowled it to Kyle Verreynne, who looked too busy scoring runs.
Dhruv Jurel struggles with injured fingers as he follows the captain to the dugout
Patel’s second to last ball of the 26th over brought some stir in the South African innings. The delivery took a sharp edge and for a moment short leg was brought straight into play. Dhruv Jurel was guarding the position, and he quickly moved down to his right to catch the effort with one hand.
With the catch being dropped, the batsman’s spinning ball, which had a thick outside edge, had enough speed to injure Dhruv Jurel’s fingers. When Rishabh Pant took a closer look, he looked in pain and soon left the field.
