Former wicketkeeper-botter Rashid Latif shared his views on Team India, refusing to join hands with Pakistan players after the Asia Cup 2025 match. Latif said that men in Blue are one of the best teams in the world, but leaving the handshake with opposition players reflects poor sportsmanship.
There was a dispute between India and Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday, 14 September after the Asia Cup 2025 match. Both teams left the customary post-match handshake, India showed solidarity with the victims of the Pahgam terror attack earlier this year, in which 26 tourists lost their lives.

Rashid Latif criticized Team India, refusing to join hands, stating that it was unfair to bring politics in the field of cricket. Latif recently accused Suryakumar Yadav’s team of playing politics after the match.

India-Pakistan match took place amid high stress. After the initiative attack, politicians and fans urged to boycott the match against their archives. However, the BCCI decided to move and play against Pakistan in the eight-team tournament.

The match started with Captain Suryakumar Yadav with Salman Ali Aga to avoid any handshake or eye contact. After killing the winning six, Suryakumar and Shivam Dubey returned to the dressing room without a customary post-match handshake with Pakistan players.
Later, Pakistan’s team, with coach Mike Hessen, approached the Indian dressing room to offer a handshahek, but the Indian management closed the doors. A disappointed Hessen told the media that his players wanted to join hands.
Team India clarified that he did not wish to maintain a friendly vibe with his opponents. Both teams can be reunited in Super 4S. It will be interesting to see how India contacts men in green.
India fought for war fight – Rashid Latif
Speaking to the Times of India, Rashid Latif said that India should have fought the war instead of accusing Pakistan of covering its mistakes.
Latif said, “Jung hi kar lying down, he should have a full -fledged (India should have fought, but he did not do so.
“To hide their own mistakes, a lot of things are being done politically. What happened on the ground was not right.”
In May 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor and attacked terrorist sites in vengeance of the Pahalgam attack in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (POK). Pakistan responded by targeting civilian areas in India. Four days before the ceasefire, this struggle ended hostility.
