Recently in a development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named the 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match test series against the West Indies at home. In particular, veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been appointed many surprisingly vice-captains in the cricket community.
India will host the West Indies for two tests. The series will begin on October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and the second and final test will be held at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In particular, the series will be India’s second outing and will be at home in the first new World Test Championship cycle.

Ravindra Jadeja has been appointed as the vice-captain for India’s upcoming testing series supporting Captain Shubman Gill. There was speculation about Jadeja’s participation, in a dispute with Manav Suthar as a possible replacement.
Speaking at the press conference, Ajit Agkar said that Rishabh Pant has not been fully recovered for the series. Agrakar said that Jadeja has been appointed as an interim vice-captainment for the series.
“Rishabh Pant has not been able to recover for this series. We are hoping that he will be cured for the next one. That is why we chose Jadeja as the vice-captain.”
Rishabh Pant set due to Miss West Indies Test series …
Rishabh Pant will recall India’s upcoming testing series against the West Indies as he continues to recover from a fragmented left leg created during the fourth test against England in July in Manchester. The injury occurred on 1 day when Pant was killed while batting by bowler Chris Woakes.
After the incident, the left -handed batsman was advised to rest six weeks and later returned home to manage his recovery. Pant will consider the wicketkeeping duties for the Jurael West Indies series, with Pant unavailable.
N Jagdish has been nominated as a reserve wicketkeeper. He first received a call-up for the Oval Test against England and also played India A matches against Australia A. The team management will continue closely monitor the rehabilitation of the pants to assess their availability for the future series.
Ravindra Jadeja appointed vice-captain for the West Indies series
Earlier this year, after the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from Test cricket, the Indian Selection Committee appointed Shubman Gill as captain, in which Rishabh Pant named his deputy.
Ravindra Jadeja is the most player in the current squad. In the absence of pants, he is named vice-captains. Jadeja had never captained the test side before.
The left-handed batsman last played for India in the Anderson-Tendulkar 2025 series, where he scored 516 runs, including a century and five fifty, and took seven wickets in five matches.
Jadeja is not part of India’s campaign during the Asia Cup 2025. Suryakumar Yadav’s side reached the finals in Dubai on 28 September. The team is scheduled to gather the day after the Asia Cup final in Ahmedabad on 29 September.
