The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik He will captain Team India in the upcoming Hong Kong Sixes 2025 tournament to be held at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground, Mong Kok, Hong Kong from 7 to 9 November.
This year’s edition promises exciting action in one of the most entertaining shorter formats of cricket, as teams from around the world including Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan will compete in the three-day competition.

Dinesh Karthik has retired IPL Last season but he remained active in the global franchise T20 league, he expressed his respect and excitement at leading the national team in a tournament that blends entertainment, flair and fierce competition.
“It is an immense honor to lead India in the Hong Kong Sixes. This format brings out the best of cricket’s entertainment and skill. We have a balanced team that can adapt quickly to high-intensity situations,” Karthik said in an official statement.
His leadership and finishing ability will be vital in guiding a team that will have a mix of experienced campaigners and domestic legends, ready to take on some of the biggest names in international Sixes cricket.
India has been placed in Group C along with Pakistan and Kuwait.
In the group stage, India finds itself in Group C, where it will face arch-rivals Pakistan and Kuwait in what promises to be exciting encounters.
Each match will consist of six overs per side, with six players per team on the field. Each bowler bowls one over, except the wicketkeeper and one other bowler, who can bowl two overs each. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals, followed by a single-match knockout to determine the champion.
Teams that fail to progress to the main knockout draw will compete in the Bowl and Plate fixtures, ensuring that every side receives valuable match exposure.

The Indian team announced for Hong Kong Sixes 2025 has a perfect blend of experience, skill and versatility.
Along with Karthik, the team also includes former India internationals Robin Uthappa And Stuart BinnyBoth are known for their explosive batting and adaptability in shorter formats. Abhimanyu Mithun And Shahbaz Nadeem Add depth and control to bowling Priyank Panchal And Bharat Chipli Strengthen the batting lineup with consistency and power-hitting.
