Dinesh Karthik brutally beats Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain after Pakistan’s exit from T20 World Cup

Former Indian wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has become one of the most keen cricket analysts in the country. He has never shied away from time to time from hitting back at many stalwarts who have made controversial comments in the past. This time, he made fun of Pakistan while hitting back at the former English giants.

Ahead of the India vs England clash in the T20 World Cup semi-finals, former Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik went head-to-head with two of England’s most famous cricketers. The following article gives a brief description of the fight.

Dinesh Karthik’s sarcasm on English giants, who fooled Pakistan

Earlier, during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, when India refused to travel to Pakistan, all their matches were scheduled at the Dubai International Stadium. India won the tournament after an undefeated streak.

Many former cricketers, especially English legends like Nasser Hussain, had pointed out that India had a one-field advantage, which led to their victory. The Indians protested then, but they had little to prove.

Following a similar situation in the ICC T20 World Cup, when Pakistan played their games at the same two venues in Sri Lanka throughout the tournament yet failed to qualify for the semi-finals, Dinesh Karthik has turned to the English giants. In an attempt to hit back at them, they have made fun of the neighboring country.

Dinesh Karthik scolded English cricketers

Dinesh Karthik described Pakistan’s failures despite having the advantage of playing on the same track throughout the tournament, describing England greats Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain as fossils.

“I thought about Pakistan because they Have played regularly in Colombo, stayed in a hotel, know the pitches well, And you two fossils cried, this is one reason why India did so well in the Champions Trophy. Accordingly, Pakistan should have done something in this World Cup.”

“But obviously, it works for one team, and it doesn’t for another. So there’s a real lack of skill there. I backed Pakistan to fight more, but they didn’t, because they lost most of their games. They almost lost to Sri Lanka, which was crazy, and then you hear this thing that they’ve been fined,” Dinesh Karthik said, laughing.

Does England have an edge over India at Wankhede?

England have a slight lead over the home team at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This is not because England played both their opening matches of this World Cup at the same venue, but for other reasons.

When India stayed in the Super-8s and played on Indian pitches, they struggled to score runs against South Africa on a slow pitch in Mumbai, and the two matches they won in Chennai and Kolkata featured tracks that allowed the ball to come onto the bat well. Hence, India’s struggle on slow pitches is evident.

It was equally evident that England’s spinners were dominant on the slow pitch of the R.Premadasa Stadium against New Zealand’s big-hitting batsmen. Additionally, England have played all their Super-8 matches in Sri Lanka, where the slowest pitches were available for batting. Harry Brook and Will Jacques scored on such tracks, and hence, they will not go into the semi-finals with a reserved mindset.
