Did Fakhar Zaman fool Mohsin Naqvi’s PCB to escape from Bangladesh? Batter broke the silence

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has once again come under criticism as one of its ‘injured’ players Fakhar Zaman took part in the National T20 Cup matches. The cricket board had earlier informed that Zaman was not fit to play for the recently concluded 3-match ODI series against Bangladesh after he reported an injury.

Questions started being raised on Pakistan Cricket Board, according to the board, the injured cricketer played back-to-back matches in the last few days.

Was Fakhar Zaman really injured before the Bangladesh series?

Former Pakistan cricketer Abdur Rauf pointed a finger towards the board while sharing the photo of Fakhar Zaman’s brilliant fielding effort. Rauf asked the board that if a player was dropped from the ODI team citing injury issue, then how did he play the match in the National T20 Cup?

“A day earlier, the selection committee had declared him injured and demanded an enquiry. What great minds and visionaries we have for the cricket out there”, the former cricketer expressed his concern on an ‘X’ post.

Pakistan Cricket Board selectors urge investigation

During a press conference with Misbah-ul-Haq, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Asad Shafiq, who are also part of the men’s selection committee, Aaqib Javed revealed that Fakhar and Babar Azam have been injured to play the ODI series against Bangladesh. He asked the Pakistan Cricket Board to investigate to find out how two cricketers who were part of the T20 World Cup 2026 squad suddenly got injured ahead of an important bilateral series.

Aaqib Javed said in the press conference, “Fakhar Zaman is also injured – on this we have also requested the Cricket Board to investigate. How can it be that Fakhar is also unfit, the injuries of these two players came to our notice only after the World Cup was over? Was their fitness not being taken care of when they were playing during the World Cup? Were they in the team without being fully fit? We are selectors, we should know these things.”

He further added, “But when you go to the World Cup, whatever health issues or injury issues arise, your head coach, your physio need to be kept updated and we need to be aware of these things.”

Fakhar Zaman is also likely to feature in the upcoming Pakistan Super League season

Later Fakhar Zaman replied that the selectors were right, he is not fit to play the 3-match ODI series. After passing the fitness test, he took part in the National T20 Cup.

“I was not 100% fit to play 50-over games. In that case, Aaqib Javed was right. I am playing these games after passing the fitness test on the 15th”, Zaman replied to Andur Rauf in ‘X’.

As soon as he is declared fit to play competitive matches, the top-order batsman is expected to play in the eleventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is scheduled to begin on March 26. Zaman will play for Lahore Qalandars in the upcoming league.
