The IPL 2026 clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) saw a shocking moment in the middle when Dasun Shanaka gave away his wicket after a dreadful mix-up with Dhruv Jurel at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, May 24.
Shanaka was looking dangerous with the bat. The Sri Lankan all-rounder was playing fearless cricket and was attacking the Mumbai Indians bowlers from the very beginning. He scored 29 runs in the first 15 balls with the help of three sixes. But the misunderstanding between Jurel and Shanaka gave MI a big wicket.

Dasun Shanaka’s brilliant innings ends in shocking mix-up with Dhruv Jurel in MI vs RR IPL 2026 clash
This unfortunate incident came to light on the third ball of the 11th over of Rajasthan Royals’ batting at Wankhede Stadium. Dhruv Jurel gently pushed the ball from Corbin Bosch towards the point region and immediately called Dasun Shanaka for a single.

Shanaka heeded the call and sprinted towards the striker’s end, as Jurel also started running. But after taking a few steps down the pitch, Jurel changed his plan midway and returned back to his crease. Unfortunately, by then, Shanaka was fully committed and was moving towards the other end without looking back.

Within a few seconds, both the batsmen of Rajasthan Royals stood on the same side of the pitch. The confusion left Shanaka stranded helplessly in the middle and Mumbai Indians took full advantage of this dreadful mix-up. The throw came towards Corbin Bosch near the stumps.
Corbyn Bosch faltered but still ran out the dangerous Dasun Shanaka
Interestingly, Bosch did not collect the ball cleanly at first and stumbled while trying to collect it. For a moment it seemed that Shanaka might still live because of that small mistake. But Bosch again caught hold of the ball and broke the stumps before Shanaka could get back into the crease.
Replays later showed that Shanaka was clearly not on his ground, and there was disappointment visible on Shanaka’s face as he was batting really well, and it was Jurel’s mistake that could prove costly for RR as they aim to clinch the final IPL 2026 playoff spot.

Corbin Bosch destroys Dhruv Jurel with unplayable yorker
After a few overs, Corbin Bosch clean bowled Dhruv Jurel with a perfect yorker. Jurel was looking in good form and was trying to handle the Rajasthan Royals innings. Even before Bosch’s surprise, the right-handed batsman had scored 38 runs in 26 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.

The MI star sent a lethal inswinging yorker. The ball first turned sharply towards Jurel, leading the batsman to believe that it was coming to his pads. Anticipating that movement, Jurel tried to flick the ball towards the leg side and closed the face of his bat while attempting the shot.
However, Bosch completely outwitted the RR batsman as the ball retained its line after being pitched and crossed Jurel’s bat, and before the RR batsman could react, the delivery crashed straight into the base of the off-stump and the stumps were shattered. Jurel looked disappointed as Rajasthan Royals lost their fifth wicket at a crucial stage of the game.
