Indian batsman Dhruv Jurel strangely lost his wicket after a rare lapse in judgment in the ongoing one-off Test against Afghanistan in New Chandigarh.
Jurel was batting with confidence and scored 19 runs in just 20 balls with the help of four fours during his stormy innings against Afghanistan. However, Afghanistan fast bowler Mohammad Salim Safi had other plans as he bowled a ball that completely fooled India’s talented batsman.

Mohammad Salim Safi bowled brilliantly in IND vs AFG test
Salim Safi bowled a good length ball just outside the off stump. Jurel immediately decided that the delivery would either continue straight or move away from him. Because of this, he decided not to play the shot and let the ball go to the wicketkeeper.
However, the Afghan pace bowler bowled beautifully. Jurrell got the line completely wrong. He believed that his off stump was safe and the ball would pass beyond it. But after hitting the pitch, the ball quickly went back towards the batsman’s stumps.

Dhruv Jurel’s mistake turns out to be a costly mistake
Since he had already decided to leave the delivery, Jurel did not have time to adjust by the time he realized the ball was heading towards the stumps. The ball passed through the narrow space between Jurel and his off stump before hitting the woodwork. The wicketkeeper-batsman stood there in disbelief as his promising innings ended in the most unexpected way.
Replays later showed that he did not move much further than his front foot. If he had taken a bigger step towards the ball, he would have been able to read the line better and either defend it or leave it safe. And this small mistake cost him dearly.
Interestingly, Safi also initially looked unsure whether the ball had hit the stumps or not. But as soon as he saw the bells being opened, his reaction said it all. The fast bowler celebrated wildly after producing one of the best balls of the game against India.

Rishabh Pant’s century dream broken in Afghanistan’s clever trap!
India lost another big wicket in the next over when Rishabh Pant missed a good century and was out for 81 against Afghanistan. The left-hander looked to be in complete control, but an aggressive shot ended his fine innings.

After holding on in the early stages, Pant looked set to score three figures, but Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi prevented that from happening. Shahidi bowled an attractive ball, tempting Pant to attack. Seeing the flight of the ball, Pant came out of his crease and tried to hit it over the fielders.
But the ball did not come on the bat the way he expected. It turned slightly after pitching, so Pat could not connect on it cleanly and hit the ball with the low side of the bat. As a result, the ball went straight into the air, and Azmatullah Umarzai, who was positioned at deep mid-off, stepped forward, judged the ball well and completed the catch safely to end Pant’s innings. He scored 81 runs against Afghanistan with the help of six fours and three sixes in 121 balls.
