India’s wicketkeeper-boss Rishabh Pant fractured his toe during the early day (Wednesday, 23 July) against England at Old Trafford, Manchester. There is increasing speculation about a replacement for the fifth test in The Squad with Dhruv Jurael and Ishaan Kishan amid the feast.
The 27-year-old injured her toe during the 68th over, while Chris attempted a reverse sweep off the Yorker-Lambai from Chris Woakes. The delivery took an inner edge and hit his toe. He removed his shoes and socks, and the bleeding was clear from the wound. He was forced to field a golf cart.
Rishabh Pants in Fine Form Before retiring in Manchester Test
Rishabh Pant was in a good form, scored 37 runs in 48 balls with two borders and a six before walking out of the field. He added an important 72 -run partnership with Sai Sudarshan, helping India overcome a difficult phase.

The injury is a major setback for India, which lags 1-2 in the five-testing chain and needs to win in Manchester to live alive. Pant has been one of the top artists in India on a tour of the pant, scoring 462 runs at an average of 66, including two centuries and two fifty.
The BCCI Medical Team is currently monitoring its condition, but no official update has been released on the severity of the injury. It is still not clear whether Pant will continue in the match or is playing in the final test. India ended the day at 264/4, with Ravindra Jadeja (19) and Shardul Thakur (19) at the crease.
Rishabh Pants excluded the fourth test and chain due to fracture
According to a report by The Indian Express, Scan confirmed that Rishabh Pant has faced a fracture, excluding him for six weeks. For the remaining fourth test, India, with a batsman, is assessing the medical team to return to bat under painkillers.
However, the possibility of coming back to the crease looks thin. While the team is looking for an option to bat again, Pant is still struggling to walk without help, which is not likely to be a return.
A source of BCCI quoted the Indian Express, saying, “A fracture has been shown in the scan report and is out for six weeks. The medical team is trying to see if he can again come out to bat again with a pain killer. He still needs support to walk and his possibility of batting seems very foggy.”
Ishaan Kishan is expected to join India’s squad for the fifth Test
Rishabh Pant, with the exit due to injury, Ishaan Kishan is expected to join India’s squad for the fifth test at the scheduled oval from 31 July to 4 August.
Dhruv Jurael will take over as a substitute wicketkeeper. However, according to the rules, he cannot bat, which means that India will continue the fourth test with only ten available batsmen. Jurael, who also took wickets during Lord’s Test, is likely to be behind the stumps for the rest of the Manchester match.
According to Jyonic Awareness, Zural is currently a leading candidate to change pants to pants in XI. Kishan was a part of India, which was a tour of England, but did not include any of the four -day matches, in which both Juraral were playing games.
Kishan last represented India in November 2023 during the T20I series against Australia. He has been absent from national duty since he returned early from a tour of South Africa for personal reasons.
