Chennai Super Kings (CSK) young star, Deval Brewis, is set to play his first game for the team in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. The South African batsman has missed the first three matches of the season and is expected to play in the upcoming match.
Ahead of CSK’s upcoming game, which will be against Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 11, Brewis talked about some Indian cricketers.
Dewald Brewis was a special guest on the YouTube channel of former India and former CSK cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin asked Dewald Brewis to choose some names with whom he would like to spend time.
Dewald Brevis reveals two surprising names
The Protea batsman has included Karthik Sharma and Prashant Veer in the CSK team. Brewis said that both the uncapped Indian players are extremely talented and young. Hence, he would love to spend some time with them. Brewis also mentioned Shreyas Gopal and Khalil Ahmed. The foreign cricketer said that he has a very strong relationship with Gopal.
“Karthik and Prashant, who have come, I really want to spend time with them because they have a lot of talent. They will find a way. They are very young. I was there a few years ago. On this stage, they just need to be themselves.”
Dewald Brewis said in the video, “Shreyas and I are very close; we enjoy playing table tennis. He is a class player. For many months, away from the IPL, I watch him perform in red-ball games. We have Khalil, he is a funny guy.”
Dewald wants to play with Mumbai Indians star Tilak Verma
It is no secret that Brewis shares a great relationship with Mumbai Indians (MI) star Tilak Verma. Before joining Chennai Super Kings, he played for Mumbai Indians. The middle-order batsman made his IPL debut with MI in 2022. He spent three seasons with the franchise and developed a friendly relationship with Team India’s batsmen.
She said, “Tilak will always be there. It’s funny how we play with each other a little bit. Almost every game we play, we have some good banter somewhere. It’s really special. When he’s been in South Africa, he’s been at our family’s house. He’s a very good friend of mine.”
Dewald Brevis’ big prediction on Tilak’s future with MI
The CSK batsman further said that he wants to play with Verma again if he gets a chance in the future. Brewis predicted that his close friend would play a lot of cricket for MI.
“In those three years, we became really close. Maybe somewhere in the future, we’ll play together again, you never know. But I think MI is going to keep him; he’s a superstar,” Dewald Brewis said.
Humorously, the Protea batsman claimed that he likes to ride in ‘tuk-tuk’ in Chennai. He also praises the quality of coffee in Chennai.
He added, “My favorite thing in Chennai, funnily enough, is to take a tuk-tuk to a coffee shop. No joke. I’ve been doing it. It’s very fast, the transportation. And the coffee is great.”
