Despite attacks on Hindus, BCCI allows Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli to tour Bangladesh; Full schedule revealed

After talks with BCB after the tour was postponed to 2025, BCCI has finally decided the schedule of Bangladesh’s tour of India. This could be the last match of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the country.

During August last year, when political tensions increased in Bangladesh and Indian officials felt that the situation was dangerous for Indian players, they postponed the tour. However, both boards then revealed that due to other international commitments and busy schedules.

This series, which was supposed to mark the return of Indian greats like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, may now give them an additional chance to excel under pressure ahead of the ICC World Cup 2027.

BCCI confirms BCB’s final schedule for Bangladesh tour

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has informed the BCCI about the confirmed itinerary for the postponed white-ball tour of the country. The schedule mentions three ODIs and three T20 matches to be played by both the teams.

BCB has confirmed that India will tour Bangladesh on August 28 and the series will be played from September 1. The white-ball matches will be played till September 13 and the ODIs will be marked as preparation for the 2027 World Cup.

However, it is worth noting that BCB has announced the schedule of the series but has not revealed the venues of the matches.

“The confirmed itinerary ensures a packed season of international cricket in Bangladesh, giving supporters across the country the opportunity to watch top-level cricket at home, while details of the match venues will be announced in due course,” the BCB said in a statement.

Schedule of India’s tour of Bangladesh:

1st ODI – 1 September

2nd ODI – 3 September

Third ODI- 6 September

1st T20I: 9 September

2nd T20I: 12 September

3rd T20I: 13 September

After the atrocities against Hindus in the country, the Indian public has turned against Bangladesh.

Relations between the two neighboring countries, which were once considered friendly as both the countries shared war, trade and even water from a common territory, have now turned into a strained relationship of cruelty, violation and intolerance.

Ever since the former government of Bangladesh was sidelined and the new interim government of Bangladesh took over, the cruelty against Hindus living in the country has increased beyond imagination and the government seems to be supporting such religious intolerance.

Hindus were brutally murdered, their houses were set on fire and properties and businesses were destroyed. These developments have also given rise to an anti-Bangladesh campaign among the Indian public, who have demanded a ban on Bangladesh players in the IPL.

In short, the Indian public demands that Bangladesh should be treated like Pakistan and if such a situation arises then this tour can also be compromised.

BCB’s packed international calendar for 2026

Apart from hosting India for the white-ball series in September, Bangladesh will host a number of international giants this year. Pakistan, New Zealand, Australia and West Indies will all play their matches in the country.

Bangladesh will host Pakistan for three ODIs in March and then host the Kiwis for a three-match ODI and T20 series from April 17 to May 2. After this, Pakistan will return to Bangladesh for a Test series, followed by Australia for a white-ball series similar to the Kiwis.

Following their series against India in September, Bangladesh will host the West Indies for a two-match Test series, a part of their WTC campaign.
