For the fifth consecutive year, Delhi Capitals (DC) failed to score enough runs to reach the play-offs. The last time they were close to claiming the trophy was in 2021. Since then, he has achieved nothing much to celebrate.

With 7 wins and 7 losses in 14 matches, DC finished their IPL 2026 at the sixth position on the points table. For playoff qualification, they needed to secure at least 16 points, but they had 14 points, a few points short.

Delhi Capitals players were surprised

In this season, Delhi Capitals played many exciting matches and close matches. On April 8, 2026, they lost two crucial points to Gujarat Titans by a margin of just 1 run. That small margin of error became a major obstacle for him throughout the remainder of the campaign. Before the next season, they have no choice but to invent new methods that can eventually lead them to the winner’s podium.

The franchise has shared an interesting video on its social media platform. The video shows all their players entering the dressing room one by one. Inside the dressing room there is an object covered with a piece of white cloth.

This is something scary: Karun Nair

The caption of the video post reads, “Sometimes the best conversations are the ones you have with yourself. A season of excitement, learning and self-reflection, straight from the hearts of our Tigers.”

The players were asked to work as per the instructions given. The instructions read, “On the back of the frame is a picture of your teammate, and you have to tell how their season was and what they learned.”

Delhi Capitals players had no idea what was behind the cloth until they removed it. Naturally, all the players were nervous and even a little scared. It won’t be easy to explain anything negative about any teammate.

It was David Miller who first realized that it was his photo on the back of the cover. Actually, it was a mirror. This setup was to help players be introspective. And it appears that it is working the same way as the players themselves expressed how they performed in the IPL 2026 season.

Notable reactions among players

Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel realizes that they are feeling short by a margin. Especially in the first half of the tournament, he lost many points.

“The first half of the tournament didn’t go the way I thought it would. But that’s part of the game,” the DC skipper said.

KL Rahul, who scored 593 runs in 14 matches, is happy with his individual performance but is distressed as the batsman experienced another season without IPL silverware.

He said, “I am happy with what I have achieved individually this season. Another season goes by without qualifying or giving me or my team a chance to win the championship. A bittersweet feeling.”
