The Indian women’s team won the ICC Women’s World Cup for the first time in its history and after this historic moment, emotions started flowing uncontrollably among the players. In a moment of consolation and immense happiness, Arundhati Reddy kissed all-rounder Deepti Sharma.

Indian women’s victory not only gave the country World Cup glory after a gap of almost one and a half decade, but also gave women the taste of success for the first time. Celebrations often have no boundaries or limits, as they are driven by emotions.

Every cricketer has his own celebration; Indian male cricketers celebrated their T20 World Cup win with some of the strangest antics. Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakravarthy were among the most interesting celebrants.

Uncontrollable emotions took over when Arundhati Reddy happily kissed Deepti Sharma

As the women in blue won the World Cup with the combined effort of all their players, they celebrated the victory by hugging each other with the girls. Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harleen Deol and Pratika Rawal all made significant contributions.

However, Deepti Sharma remained the highlight of the World Cup with both bat and ball. In an Instagram post, Indian fast bowler Arundhati Reddy, who replaced Pooja Vastrakar in the team, hugged and kissed Deepti Sharma.

A form of celebration that the cricket fraternity is not much accustomed to seeing, as male cricketers do not celebrate in this manner. However, for women in general, such celebrations should not lead to any controversy or discussion on social media, as they are an outpouring of pure emotions.

A look at Deepti Sharma’s unique performance in the World Cup

Deepti Sharma remains India’s most experienced star in the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup squad. The all-rounder has proven his experience in both the departments and has contributed in some way or the other whenever India won the World Cup or came close to winning it.

Deepti scored 215 runs in 9 matches, coming in at no. 6 or lower in the batting order. He scored three half-centuries, which is joint-highest in the tournament. With the ball in hand, he took 22 wickets in the tournament and five wickets to his name.

Deepti Sharma was awarded the Player of the Tournament award

Deepti took five wickets in the World Cup final, which prevented the Proteas women from chasing the huge target set by India women. During India’s batting innings, Deepti was the second highest scorer with an innings of 58 runs.

She ended all hopes of the Protea Women by dismissing Laura Wolvaardt and cleaned up the tail to finish the job for the Women in Blue. For his commendable all-round performance, he was given the Player of the Tournament award, similar to Yuvraj Singh’s Player of the Tournament award when India last won the World Cup in 2011.
