Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar recently revealed a funny conversation with his former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni. The fast bowler, who currently plays for Mumbai Indians (MI) after leaving the Chennai franchise, said that he wanted to meet Dhoni but said the former captain rejected it.
The bowler spent seven years playing under the experienced wicketkeeper before moving to the Mumbai franchise during the last mega auction. He was bought by Mumbai for ₹9.25 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Despite playing for rival teams, both the cricketers still share a close bond off the field.

In an Instagram live video, Deepak Chahar said that he misses his former teammates. He revealed that when he asked to meet him, MS Dhoni gave a funny reply.
“I myself spoke to Mahi Bhai yesterday. Asked him, I said, ‘Mahi Bhai, I was watching your video, I was missing you guys.’ He says, ‘I don’t like you at all.’ I said, ‘I’ll come and meet you.’ They say, ‘Don’t come at all!” Deepak Chahar said.

MS Dhoni will continue to play for CSK in IPL 2026
Chennai Super Kings management has ended all the speculations regarding the future of MS Dhoni. While fans were skeptical about his participation, the franchise retained the experienced player ahead of the upcoming IPL 2026 auction. He will continue to play for the team in the 19th edition.
Last season, Dhoni led the team after regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad got injured and was ruled out after five matches. The right-handed batsman batted lower down the order.
Dhoni scored just 196 runs in 13 innings at an average of 24.50 and strike rate of 135.17, with his best score being 30. The team also has wicketkeepers like Sanju Samson and Karthik Sharma, which is keeping fans guessing about Dhoni’s exact role.
Deepak Chahar is ready to play for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026
Deepak Chahar will play for Mumbai Indians in the upcoming IPL 2026 season. The management retained him for ₹9.25 crore. During the 2025 campaign, the fast bowler appeared in 14 matches and managed to take 11 wickets for his team.
Overall, the bowler has played 95 IPL matches, taking 88 wickets at an average of 29.51 and an economy rate of 8.14, with a career-best bowling figures of 4/13. He is currently out of the race for national team selection.
In international cricket, Chahar made his India debut against England in July 2018. He has played 25 T20I matches so far, in which he has taken 31 wickets for the senior national team. Chahar has also featured in 13 One Day Internationals, taking 16 wickets with best figures of 3/27.
