The atmosphere at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Monday (April 27) was fantastic, but the way things unfolded during the IPL 2026 match surprised everyone. Delhi Capitals (DC) have been thoroughly outclassed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and now another heavy defeat has put them under immense pressure, and many believe their campaign has slowed down.
After suffering a six-wicket defeat against Punjab Kings despite scoring 264 runs in 20 overs, Delhi Capitals suffered an embarrassing defeat in their second consecutive home match as they were bowled out for just 75 runs in 16.3 overs.
DDCA criticizes Delhi Capitals’ confusing and inconsistent performance
On Monday, RCB achieved the target with 9 wickets in 6.3 overs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Following Delhi Capitals’ humiliation on home soil, Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) director Shyam Sundar Sharma criticized the franchise’s inconsistent and confusing performance in the ongoing IPL 2026.

He has said that Delhi Capitals is losing badly in other matches despite scoring big scores and their problem is not just form but also luck.
“When Delhi scores 265, they lose. When they fail to reach even 100… their stars don’t match. They need to do some ritual or prayer to achieve victory,” ANI quoted the DDCA director as saying.
DDCA officials surprised by Virat Kohli’s promotion; He is called the “uncrowned king” of the game.
He also revealed how huge the craze was for this DC vs RCB IPL 2026 clash as Kohli was playing at his home ground, adding that he has never seen such a high demand for tickets in his entire career. Sharma further said, “In my 40 years of experience, I have never seen as much pressure for match tickets as I have seen for this game.”
The DDCA director also clarified that criticism of Virat Kohli is not justified. He called the former Indian captain the “uncrowned king” and said there is no player greater than him.

“For those who say Virat is ‘finished’, he will play for at least the next five years. He is the Bindaas Badshah, the uncrowned King. There has never been any player bigger than him. It is only out of humility that he calls others senior. In fact, there is no player bigger than him. Just look at the number of fans he has,” Sharma said.
RCB shines again as Virat Kohli creates IPL history
Notably, the RCB icon created history once again. He became the first player in IPL history to cross 9000 runs. Kohli has been in great form this season and he also played an unbeaten inning of 23 runs off 15 balls in RCB’s big win over DC.
He is currently the fourth highest run scorer this season with 351 runs. With this dominant win, RCB have now strengthened their position at the second position in the IPL 2026 points table with six wins from eight matches. On the other hand, Delhi’s fifth defeat has pushed them to seventh place with 6 points from 8 matches played so far this season.
