Lungi Ngidi could not play some matches of IPL 2026 due to head injury
Lungi Ngidi suffered a serious head injury while attempting to take a catch during an IPL match against Punjab Kings on April 25, 2026. During landing his head hit the ground hard. Seeing the seriousness of the injury, he immediately went to the hospital. Later, he was discharged and confirmed to be stable, and has returned to training.
Just an hour after being stretchered off, the IPL tweeted that Ngidi was “stable” and “will be released from the hospital soon.” If he takes the field to announce his comeback in IPL 2026 then it will be a big relief for Delhi Capitals fans as well as cricket fans.
Lungi Ngidi given mandatory break
Lungi Ngidi was reportedly given a six-day rest period as a precautionary measure to recover from the life-threatening injury. A six-day rest period was a part of the concussion protocol. As soon as the period ended, without any further complications, he is set to play again for Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Indian Premier League campaign. If things go according to plan, the fast bowler could play on 48 against Chennai Super Kingsth IPL 2026 match.
