The return of Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant to Delhi Capitals has now become the biggest topic of discussion among the cricket world around the world. The latest is former Delhi Capitals captain and Australian icon David Warner, who took to social media to mock Rishabh Pant’s return after Kuldeep Yadav.
Pant has left Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after two tough seasons and is back with the franchise where he spent most of his IPL career and achieved success at the highest level. In a blockbuster trade deal, Kuldeep Yadav left Delhi Capitals to join Lucknow Super Giants, while the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman returned to his first franchise in the IPL.
Parth Jindal welcomes Rishabh Pant’s return, thanks Kuldeep Yadav after blockbuster IPL trade
Former Australian opening batsman David Warner came into limelight with his reaction to a post by Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal. After the trade was completed, Jindal thanked Kuldeep for his contribution to Delhi Capitals over the last five years and wished him success for the future.
The DC co-owner also welcomed Pant to Delhi and expressed hope that the wicketkeeper-batsman will regain his best form in familiar surroundings. But after the deal, current captain Akshar Patel ignored Rishabh Pant’s words.

‘It was always going to happen’: David Warner takes a dig at Parth Jindal and DC over Rishabh Pant’s comeback
Soon after the post went viral online, Warner couldn’t stop himself from laughing at Delhi Capitals and Jindal over the Kuldeep-Pant swap. Since Warner was a part of the DC team for two stints, he knows a lot of things that others don’t, so he made full use of it to capitalize on Jindal and DC.
Warner responded to Jindal’s post, saying, “This was always going to happen. The auction can get out of hand, and if form dips and one owner wants to get rid of you while another wanted you but unfortunately got outbid, you could be wasting your time.”

Rishabh Pant’s salary cut by ₹12 crore and new beginning
After becoming the most expensive player in IPL history, Pant went through a bad phase when Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bought him for ₹27 crore. Well, expectations were high, but the left-hander has struggled to perform well as both captain and batsman.
He scored only 269 runs in the 2025 season and then only 312 runs in the recent season, while his average was less than 25 in both the seasons. LSG also finished at the bottom of the table in IPL 2026 with only four wins, which led to their exit from the team.
Now, Pant has returned to Delhi Capitals after accepting a pay cut of ₹12 crore. Now, it remains to be seen whether the wicketkeeper will once again lead the franchise in IPL 2027 as he is already struggling badly for form with the bat.
