Former Australian opener David Warner has questioned the selection committee for not including any player from Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League.PSL) Team of the 2026 Tournament. The team comprises of outstanding performers from six franchises and is led by top scorer Babar Azam as captain.

PSL 2026 concluded after 44 matches played across two venues in Lahore and Karachi. Peshawar Zalmi topped the table with 17 points. They won the title by defeating Hyderabad Kingsmen in the final match. Karachi Kings missed the playoffs and finished sixth with 10 points and a negative net run rate.

David Warner reacts to PSL 2026 squad of the tournament

Responding on the official PSL Instagram page, david warner The five-member commentary panel questioned the complete exclusion of Karachi Kings players. The Australian legend posted his reaction in the comments section under the official team announcement of the tournament.

David Warner commented, “Where are the Karachi players.”

David Warner was the standout opening batsman for Karachi Kings this season, scoring 256 runs in seven innings at an average of 51.20 and a strike rate of 147.98. Azam Khan added 236 runs, while Hasan Ali led the bowling attack with 15 wickets at an economy rate of 6.33.

Babar Azam becomes the highest run scorer in PSL 2026

Pakistan Cricket Board announced this while appointing the team of the tournament Babar Azam as captain after their title-winning campaign. The board said the selection recognized the top performers of a highly competitive season.

Babar Azam was the leading run-scorer with 588 runs and won the Hanif Mohammad Cap. He equaled Fakhar Zaman’s 2022 record of most runs in a season by scoring two centuries against Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United. Fakhar Zaman finished third for Lahore Qalandars with 401 runs.

The PSL further clarified that the final eleven-man squad includes three players from each Peshawar Zalmi And Hyderabad Kingsmen. The selection panel also picked two players each from Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United as well as one player each from Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators.

Peshawar Zalmi wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis earned his place after scoring 550 runs and completing eight dismissals behind the stumps. His teammate Sufiyan Mokim took 22 wickets and won both the Player of the Tournament and Best Bowler awards.

Shaheen Afridi confirmed his place for Lahore Qalandars by taking 16 wickets at an economy rate of 7.86. Multan Sultans batsman Shan Masood was selected after scoring 367 runs at an average of 45.87. Quetta Gladiators batsman Hasan Nawaz was chosen 12th player after scoring 291 runs in the tournament.

PSL 11 Team of the Tournament: Babar Azam (captain), Fakhar Zaman, Kusal Mendis (wicketkeeper), Shan Masood, Usman Khan, Shadab Khan, Hasan Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hunnain Shah, Sufiyan Mukeem, Richard Gleeson and Hasan Nawaz (12th man).
