David Warner criticizes DDCA for Coca-Cola incident

Former Australia batsman David Warner, who recently joined the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has criticized the incident while posting his thoughts in the form of an Instagram story.

However, DDCA issued a clarification on Thursday after a video went viral. He said the activity was part of approved commercial arrangements and operational standards, and the bottles were subsequently “disposed of responsibly in line with established environmental and operational guidelines”.

DDCA defends sellers’ mistake

“We have noticed a video being circulated on social media, especially on

“In this regard, it is clarified that the pour-up is done by the authorized concessionaire for the stadium, in line with the program guidelines. The concessionaire was serving Coca-Cola products as per the agreed commercial arrangements and operational standards.”

The DDCA statement said, “We follow strict hygiene protocols at the venue. In the example shown in the video, the vendor, while separating wet and dry waste, put unused drinks back into bottles before disposal as part of the waste collection process. The bottles were subsequently collected, segregated and processed as per the waste management and recycling policy of the venue.”

“It is reiterated that the bottles were disposed of responsibly in line with established environmental and operational guidelines,” the DDCA further said.

Lalit Modi also criticized DDCA and Coca-Cola

Former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman and league commissioner Lalit Modi has also criticized it, posting the video on Instagram and said, “This was caught on camera of the seller of the soft drink and the official product, which is the number one soft drink in India, was putting the Cola back in a bottle for resale. This kind of unethical behavior is not what a company like #CocaCola is doing.”

Here is the video

The issue has escalated and DDCA needs to take action against the vendor and not just issue a statement defending its vendors. Fans are not happy with the statement issued by DDCA, as their health safety has been questioned.
