The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) champion St. Lucia Kings has announced a new captain for the upcoming season. Veteran all -rounder David Vise, who has played for South Africa and Namibia, will do the FAF Do Placeis for the 2025 edition of the Caribbean Premier League as a skipper.
FAF Do Plessis withdrew from 2025 CPL season citing personal reasons. He was ready to play for Dakshin Bahadur in hundred, but was selected to undergo continuous surgery in the IPL with exit from that tournament. The batsman wanted to use August window for recovery to fit for the SA20 later this year.

In a statement by St. Lucia Kings, “I am absolutely humble to name your captain. In this season, we will play with passion, heart and unity.”
He said, “You will see us for each other and giving everything for you. And fans, we need to pack stadiums with you, pick up the vibe and paint St. Lucia Blue. Let’s make it a special season,” he said.
David Visay has been a part of the family for a long time – Daren Sammy
Head coach Daran Sammy welcomed Visay’s appointment as captain. Sammy said that Wiese has been related to long association with the team for years. He expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming season, especially on August 23, home opener.
Sammy said, “David Visay has been a part of the family for a long time. He has been with us for many years and he has done some excellent performances.”
He said, “We cannot wait to start our first domestic game on 23 August. We know that St. Lucia Kings are the best fans and you will come out at Daren Sammy Cricket Ground and will paint it blue, as you support our new captain and our team,” he said.
David Visé played an important role in Kings title winning campaign last season
St. Lucia has been a leading player for Kings since David Visé joined 2021. He scored 121 runs at a strike rate of 168 and took 13 wickets with an economy less than 8.5 during his 2024 title-winning runs.
Namibian all-rounder has scored 338 runs and has taken 36 wickets in 26 CPL matches for Kings. In particular, Wiese is the first full-time franchise captain from a collaborative nation in the league of a test-playing country.
He led the teams in PSL and a hundred in a closed roles. St. Lucia will launch its CPL 2025 campaign against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons on Monday, August 18 in Antigua. Kings have also made their squad with foreign pics such as Tim David, Tabarize Shamsi and Delano Potgiator.
