Former Indian opener and BCCI selector Chris Srikanth has shown an unconscious inclination for the CSK’s possible decision with former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in front of the upcoming mini-verse for the next IPL season in 2026.
Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket during the final border-Gavaskar Trophy; However, he continues to represent several franchisees in the T20 league.
The IPL was selected by Chennai Super Kings in 2025, it was a very hypnotized reunion between Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni. The three won so many matches for the Super Kings, but not this time, because CSK finished the season at the bottom of the points table.

Krrish Srikanth put CSK ahead of mini-interview for Ravichandran Ashwin Snow
Ashwin, raised by Super Kings for INR 9.75 crore, could manage to score only 33 runs and select 7 wickets in the season.
Now, months before mini-intercourse, CSK has shown some serious activity around its players, looking for trades as well as release of some players. With the rumors of Ravichandran Ashwin’s release, former Indian selector Chris Srikanth has supported the move and called it in favor of the franchise after two disappointing seasons.
“In fact, I am with CSK, and if they do this, it will be a super trick. I think they can put around 42 crores, and with the youth who performed well at the end of the season, they can create a good side,” Srikanth said on his YouTube channel.
“This is franchise cricket at the end of the day and not Tamil Nadu Cricket”
As Srikanth agreed with CSK management on his decision to release Ravinachandran Ashwin, a rumor came to light since Sanju Samson’s trade. According to media sources, Ashwin was considered to do business back in Royals instead of Samson.
“They thought it was a good pick, but unfortunately, you have understood that it is franchise cricket at the end of the day, not Tamil Nadu Cricket.”
“Yes, we all praise him for his record; he has performed brilliantly for IPL, CSK, India and Tamil Nadu. But moreover, you have to win the championship. In the last two years, CSK has not qualified for the playoffs,” Srikanth said.
He also said that Washington Sundar, all-rounder, replaced Ravichandran Ashwin in the Indian team in last year’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy and said that it was bound to be in competitive cricket.
R Ashwin’s IPL career
Ravichandran Ashwin is considered one of the top players in the history of the Indian Premier League. After returning his debut in 2009 for Chennai Super Kings, he played for five franchisees in the league.
He has appeared in 221 IPL Games and has gone to take an average of 187 wickets in 30.22, but his most important contribution came when he bowled with a new ball in the Death over along with Powerplay, when the team intended to protect the low yogas.
Along with the bat, the batsman has scored an average of 13.01 on an average of 833 runs, including half -centuries. He was part of CSK’s IPL-winning squad twice in 2010 and 2011.
