Former wicketkeeper-boss Dinesh Karthik has been named Captain of Team India for Hong Kong Six 2025, which is scheduled from 7 to 9 November, as confirmed by Hong Kong Cricket. The former RCB batsman replaced Robin Uthappa, who led Team India in the 2024 edition, as captain for the tournament.

Karthik retired from all formats of Indian cricket in 2024. The 40 -year -old Tamil Nadu cricketer is currently serving as a batting coach for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL and directed the team for the title in 2025. He will return to competitive cricket for Captain Team India at Hong Kong Six.

On Tuesday, September 23, Cricket Hong Kong announced that Dinesh Karthik Hong Kong will captain Team India in Six 2025. The board said it would bring enthusiasm and intensity to the tournament.

Dinesh Karthik expressed his excitement when Team India was named Captain for Hong Kong sixes 2025. Karthik said that his aim is to please fans in a global recognized tournament.

Karthik said in a media release, “It is a full -fledged Team India in Hong Kong Six, which is a tournament with such rich history and global beliefs.”

He said, “I am eager to lead a group of players who have such incredible records for their credit, and together we will aim to bring happiness and play cricket for fans who are both fearless and entertaining,” he said.

Karthik SA20 played for Paarl Royals in 2024-25 season. He represented India in 26 tests, 94 Odis and 60 T20I in his international career. Wicketkeeper Batter also played 257 IPL matches.

India lost all matches in Hong Kong Six 2024

India’s goal will aim to return to Hong Kong sixes 2025. The team did disappointing outing in 2024 under Robin Uthappa. In particular, the side lost all its matches in the group stage. Uthappa scored an impressive average of 36.25 in five matches and 145 runs at a strike rate of 371.79.

Dinesh Karthik will lead India about 14 years after his final presence in the competition. He captained the side during the first 2011-12 edition, scoring 92 runs out of four matches at a remarkable strike rate of 340.74, including 32 runs off just nine balls against England.

Ravichandran Ashwin will also include the 2025 edition. The off-spinner, who has retired from both international cricket and IPL, will make his first on-field appearance since the announcement of its retirement.
