The franchise insisted that the step was in full alignment with the IPL rules when the questions were raised online questions whether CSK had violated the rules during the signature. The CSK reported that the signatures were made under Claus 6.6 of the IPL Player Regulation 2025-27, which clearly states that a replacement player could not be contracted for more than the injured player’s auction price. The franchise emphasized that Brevis’s contract strictly followed the section and therefore fully complied with the rules of the league.
“A replacement player signed for either paragraphs 6.1 or 6.2, can be recruited at a league fee, which will not exceed the league fee that will be payable to the injured/unavailable player for the respective season. If a replacement player is recruited during a season, the player is paid to reduce, the player contract,” CSK wrote in an official media release.
Bravis’s sublime form in T20I series against Australia
Brevis, popularly known as “Baby AB” AB de VilliersHas played 81 T20 matches so far, scored 1,787 runs with the highest score of 162. He made his T20I debut to South Africa in 2023 and has depicted two international levels.
In the IPL, Brevis was earlier part of the Mumbai Indians setup, where he played 10 matches. He now joins CSK with new confidence after his banging knocking against Australia earlier this week, where he showed his explosive stroke by breaking a century of 41 balls. Even in the ongoing third game, Brevis demonstrated his sublime touch, smashing 53 with just 26 balls.
